A very fine and ultra scarce silver plated example worn circa 1882-1887, the crowned star pattern back plate with laurel overlays .Silvered Thistle Star with title scrolls mounted by detachable silver crowned LACESSET oval resting in thistle sprays and Sphinx with blank tablet below; silvered St. Andrew and the Cross to seeded centre.Additional bottom scroll inscribed '1st Volunteer Battalion'. Three loop to the reverse. London makers stamp. VGC.
